Chief Nursing Officer - French Speaker

VAMED Djibouti.

For a local partner VAMED is developing and will manage a new, international standard, tertiary care hospital in the city of Djibouti. VAMED has been contracted to develop and manage the hospital for the pre-operational phase and at least 5 years of operations. In addition to management services VAMED will provide an extensive training and development program with the aim of making the hospital independent of international management. The 140-bed hospital is currently in the final stages of construction and opening is planned for October 2024. For its management team VAMED is currently recruiting the CEO with the aim of a start in Djibouti in January 2024. VAMED is an international hospital development and management company with its headquarters in Vienna, Austria.

Your challenge:

  •  In coordination with CEO and CMO develop the department plans, which determine the objectives for nursing and allied health services and ensures they are consistent with the mission and vision of the facility’s strategic plan
  •  Responsible for recruitment of qualified nurses and allied health professionals
  • Maintains continuing quality assessment and improvement analysis and evaluation of patient care delivery and communicates with Executive team on the activities/issues of the Nursing/Allied Health Services.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with senior nurse executive colleagues within and across organizations within the region to collectively advance the nursing governance and leadership agenda
  • Create and promote evidence-based nursing practice by initiating and participating in problem-solving, policy-forming conferences with the Nursing/Allied health Services.
  • Participate in various committees, related to Nursing and Allied Health. Participate in projects and policy decisions that affect patient care and maintains close coordination with all inter-related department to ensure continuity and collaboration of services.
  • Ability to coach, influence and mentor the nursing and allied health teams to strive for excellence in service and quality
  • Ensure standards of practice are met; policies, procedures and job descriptions are followed and nurses and allied health professionals have essential knowledge and skills to deliver safe quality patient care.
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of hospital procedures and KPIs of patient care
  • Identify training needs and approve appropriate in-service programs to ensure constant knowledge updates and refreshment.
  • Complying with Policies, Procedures and Practices of the hospital and other Regulatory Requirements
  • Authorise purchase of supplies and equipment for the nursing and Allied Health departments within established hospital guidelines.
  • The ability to demonstrate leadership, managerial ability, good interpersonal relationships, and the application of sound administrative principles
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding patient/staff information.
  • Oversees a robust complaint management system, such that patient/family issues are resolved as close to the source as is practicable
  • Adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety, Materials Management and Maintenance Standards
  • Establish and manage relationships with external agencies related to medical safety programs, including but not limited to purchasers, government agencies, and other stakeholders

Your profile:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a managerial position in a hospital.

  • Graduate from School of Nursing (Not Less Than 3 years study duration from an accredited program)

  • Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and/or Master in Nursing / Health Services Management.

  • Maintains valid, current RN licensure from own country.

  • Specialist Nursing certifications such as Critical Care Nursing is advantageous.

  • Training Experience in Rehabilitative Nursing practices also advantageous.

     

     

  • Required language skills:

    • French is mandatory, with additional fluency in Arabic and English being of added value.
